Ok so got the NOA1. Logged in to an account on the INS website to check my case - now what?

The touches - do you see these online? Do you receive a e-amil? Do touches just mean that it has been looked at?

Choice of agent- what does this mean? I assumed this was if you were using a lawyer but if you aren't then you are your own agent? I see people saying their agent is their spouse, their aunt, etc???? What does this mean?

AOS bill? Know this comes to me (foreign spouse) but what is it?

DS-3032? I know this goes to the petitioner? What info is required on it?

WHere does the i-864 and DS-230 come in? What about the medical - where does this fit in?

We sent the application to Nebraska but I think it was forwared to California, so is California now our service center?

Which forums should I be browsing through now that would give me the best info on what is coming up - CR1 or California Service Center, etc???????

IS the Customer Service number given on the NOA1 the automated line that people talk about where they get their update of their case?

So for all the questions? Just want to get the ducks in a row! ;)

You can check the case through the receipt number.

If there is an RFE, or it's completed and forwarded to NVC, they will post that info.

That phone number given is a "call at your own risk; you'll get only as current info as displayed online, and we can't even guarantee that it will be right" toll-free number which is known on VJ as:

  • MIS-information line
  • gobbledygook line

You should have a read of the following to familiarize yourself on what will happen once your I-130 is approved at service center and forwarded to NVC. This can enable you to then have various things gathered in readiness

NVC Flowchart for CR-1 which will show you the order the various forms and bills etc will process at the NVC.

Also check out the Timesavers and Jame's Shortcuts link in my signature. It also contains info on finding out your case number once your I-130 reaches NVC.

The AOS (I-864), DS-230 etc come into play at the NVC.

Yes I-130's are transferred from NCS to CSC. California is presently processing I-130's with a receipt date of September 02, 2005.
