I really think this is highly discretionary. I have read that a lady got approved because she wanted her husband home for christmas. In contrast to that, I have read people with real humanitarian situation get denied.

So I think you can request for a various of reasons, but what ndprulx has suggested above are the fundamental basis.

yeah ...... my expedite was approved today. ... based on Christmas. .. Thank God. what is the next etap

Congrats, Kimbo. I'm very happy for you. But how your approval compares to denial of some true humanitarian situations, it baffles me.

Thanks. ..Yes you are right. ... but my strength is to always try because nothing ventured, nothing gained....if I was you,I would ask a expedite.... be convincing in the application. .. And you lose nothing..do not be discouraged. go for it Edited by Kimbo

mind you it's not the nvc that grants the expedite request and rather the local embassy, and i believe nepal embassy perhaps is receiving a lot of requests i'm sure. the situation there right now although not a dire one is sure a stressful one. and also it's been over 6 months since the earthquake. so i dont know what to make of it. i think it's the perspective as well by how the local embassy looks into the need of celebrating anything together compared to difficult times at other places. and last but not the least, i've read so many times that nepali people working at the embassy are most of the time not so nice and almost always trying as if it fails attitude bearing. so perhaps the added help is not there. im sure it cant take more than what its suppose to and 1 month more although i wouldnt be happy to add to the timeline, perhaps wouldnt hurt if the most. so good luck to all of us, and hope this ends sooner than expected.

I agree. And the fact is that this is all discretionary. Someone that feels holidays are of significance for families to be together - which is what I believe too- grants such request. Whereas other may rely on Embassy staffs native to that country to assess the situation before making their assessment.

Oh well..

I received an email from NVC today advising that its currently being reviewed. No note on whether Embassy or NVC is reviewing it. I bear no confusion that its the former.
