Hello, my fiancee (Japanese citizen) and I (American citizen) are planning on mailing our I-129F package out within the next few days. However, I was wondering if the fact that I am going there to Japan to see her later this month will have any bearing on the petition. In other words, should we wait until I return home to send the I-129F in, or does it even matter? I'm aware that it is not a good idea for her to visit me in America once the package has been submitted, but does it matter if I visit Japan during this time? Further, should I include my itinerary for this upcoming trip in support of evidence of relationship for further proof? Thanks so much for any and all input, best of luck to you all.

If you have never met in person before, you need to wait to submit your K1 package until after your trip. One of the requirements is to have met in the last two years and you must include proof in the package. If you've already met in person in the last two years and have other proof then there is nothing to prevent you from visiting while your package is pending. There also is no restrictions on her visiting here on a vistors visa while the case is pending. Tourist visas do not affect your K1 application.

Hope this answers your question.

No restrictions on your travel... In fact, it would be good to do this after your petition is filed and present the evidence of your visit at the time of the interview to help document the validity of your continuing bonafide relationship.

There's no restriction on the USC's travel, and it's fine to visit her in her country. Take plenty of pictures together, save your boarding passes and passport stamps, and enjoy the time together. Save the evidence of the joint travel for presentation at the interview, though it's unlikely to be needed.

Don't delay the I-129F filing for this, unless you're afraid you don't already have good solid evidence of an in-person meeting within the past two years. If that's the case, you could document this trip and use it to meet the I-129F requirement. But if you've already got a well-documented in person meeting, then file now, and travel while the petition is in the queue.

I went to see Claudeth right after I mailed the K-1 petition. When I got back home there was the receipt NOA, the approval NOA and a notice from the NVC saying the petition had been forwarded to Manila so that was a very pleasent surprise.
