I got married to a US citizen, we've been happily married and we filed AOS since july and still waiting interview. My wife has been mentally ill for a while, it got worse to an extent that we had to check her into a psychatric ward and she has been there for 1 month and I'm the one taking care of the step kids... please what do I do if we are invited for interview before she recovers, hope her illness won't affect my green card. Please I need advice on what to do in this regard...

Is she capable of answering questions in her current state, or an acute risk to herself and others? If the first, you should be able to obtain a day release for her to go to the interview with you.

Can you clarify: are you more worried about your wife's illness or green card? It is not completely clear from your post..

San Diego thanks for your reply, I'm so worried about my wives illness especially with the way she's looking and have been crying and praying to God for her healing. I just wanna know what I can do in case we are called for interview and she's unable to make it

I pray she will be able to attend and answer questions by the time we are invited for interview. But what if she's unable to be there... what can I do...

Bring a letter from the doctor saying she is currently in hospital and unable to attend the interview for her own safety. Make sure the letter is on official hospital stationary, and includes a number the USCIS officer can call. If you have a lot of other evidence of bonafide relationship (joint finances, you being legal guardian of her kids during this difficult time), it may be enough. Worst case, they will delay and schedule a second interview when she is out.
