Hi, I am totally new in this forum, I signed here because we have a few concerns and I hope someone who had experience the procedure may help us to gain clarity on the situation.

I am Mexican and my boyfriend is US citizen. He thinks we won't be able to marry due to the 134 thing, he still has one year of college, so he works waiting tables for now but he lives by himself; I am a Graphic Designer and Art Director, I don't really need to be supported by him, I also offer my services as freelance for a few agencies around the world and I have savings that could help us until I am able to get a job in this country after approval, is there any way I can help him through this step? I mean, to show that I won't be totally supported by him.

I would appreciate some advice.

If the petitioner doesn't make enough money to show he/she can support you, they can find a co-sponsor i.e. his/her parents, siblings or close friends. Remember if you find a co-sponsor they will have to submit the same documents as a sponsor including tax returns, W2, employer letter, pay stubs etc

Even if you make enough money to support yourself they will not except it , if your fiancé is not able to hit the poverty line you have to get a cosponsor such a family member or friend and they should be willing to provide there W2, tax return and proof of employment

Thank you guys. Finding a co-sponsor will be definitely a problem, since his parents don't approve our relationship and never will. I believe he meet the guidelines, if not I

guess I will have to keep visiting until he is done with college and I can take him to my country to live with me (but I don't think he wants to live in Mexico) or find a friend willing to be our co-sponsor as you suggest.

It is unfair that they won't accept self-sponsorship since I am allowed to visit this country for a maximum of 6 months on my own. What I have been doing this whole year is stay the maximum in this country, then I took him to Europe for 3 months in summer and came back, but I can't keep doing that for another year, nor I think they will allow me to keep doing that, at some point it will be suspicious. Now I have to go back to Mexico and stay there for a few months, without him... I never thought I would be so attached to someone to not even want to be without that person anymore.
