Hi Everyone,

I sent I-130 petitons for my parents in March. My birth certificate only had my parents last names and initials so I included two affidavits of birth in my application including the birth certificate. In September, I received RFE to provide additional evidence to support the birth certificate which I think I think the affidavits provided should have been enough. They also said the marriage certificate I provided did not have the dates the marriage was registered on it but there was date on it. I resent the affidavits I used previously and included some family photographs. In my cover letter, I pointed out the date was on the marriage certificate and also resent it. My status changed to response to RFE received on September 25. Now yesterday, I got another RFE asking for the same documents to support my birth but the marriage certificate was not mentioned in the RFE. I am confused, I though the documents I sent were enough evidence and I never even got the family photographs back!!!!!

Any suggestions please?

Thank you.

They never give photos back and that is why the say you can sent copies.

I guess they were happy with the document you sent with the marriage certificate but not the birth certificate so you will need to find something new to support this.

Maybe if you ask other from Nigeria they can help you. They have been through the same.

Nope that won't do you need to get your birth certificate from NPC (National Population Commission). The attestament at USCIS will not do. Sorry.

Thanks. I already have someone working on that, I just wish they had been more specific about what they want.

Thanks. I found that you can use Form G-884 to request original documents back. I have digital copies of most of the pictures except two that I took out of my wedding album.

Hi dwheels76,

I was wondering if you could shed more light on this birth certificate issue. My case was denied even though I sent in the birth certificate from NVC and they claimed it was in-sufficient, I am confused as to what else they wanted. Any idea?

Thanks.
