Is it too early for me to book my medical?

Is it too early for me to book my medical? I don't want to risk the £90 fine...

I spoke to NVC last week and they received our case on Weds (11 Nov) and gave me our case number.

I sent off my UK police certificate request yesterday and did the £80 2 day service so if I book the medical for around this time next month should I have everything I need by then?

I also have my vaccination records already too.

This is what the London medical centre says I need:

The only thing I don't have is the appointment letter.

• Appointment letter from the United States Embassy
  
• Passport
  
• 4 passport-sized photographs (four for each applicant, including babies)
  
• Medical questionnaire, form IV18a (one for each applicant, including babies)
  
• Police certificate (unless you have already sent original to the Embassy)
  
• Spectacles or contact lenses if worn
  
• Vaccination records, with original certification
  
• Children's 'Red Book' health record
  
• Medical reports of any past or current illnesses including psychiatric. If there is a history of TB, please obtain old records, including investigation and treatment details
  
• When there may be special educational needs, please provide any recent educational, psychological assessments, school reports etc

I think you should wait I received my husbands case number in May.. It is now November and we still haven't received an interview date.

Now they are going to request more information, and then the wait for an interview. You should wait

I refer you to the K1 London guide found in the UK FORUM which says--

Shortcut for those who cant wait for their letter: If you have obtained your LND number, you can enter it in the CEAC Visa Status Check site,. Choose immigrant in the drop down. Include the letters LND with your number. The important thing here is to forget the text at the bottom about scheduling interviews or anything like that--the Embassy does that for you once you've sent everything in. There are two main statuses at this point:

In Transit --This one means your case is on its way from the NVC to London.

Ready --This one means London has your casefile and is waiting to receive something needed to progress your case. You may begin submitting forms and booking the medical.

FYI: Each consulate does things differently so seeking information in the UK FORUM at this point is your best bet at a correct answer for your situation.

Are you looking under Immigrant? You won't find it under Non-immigrant. Otherwise just keep checking the rest of the week because it's not arrived yet. Once it shows up as Ready you can go full steam ahead and book a medical at the first available day. That's likely to be sooner than a month from now. Print the status and use that at the medical. They aren't that strict about seeing the letter.

Edit to add: not everybody's shows up "in transit". Ready may be the first thing you see.
