Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this... My wife and are married and she is here with me in U.S. The last update we received is that we might not have to go for an interview to get her Green Card. We moved to another State and let the INS know our new address. My wife wants to get a job but on her SS card states she cannot work without a permit. If anyone can point me in the right direction of how to do this we would be thankful.

Thanks,

Mike and Ruth

She would have needed to apply for EAD. That is the authorization the SS card is referring to. If you applied typically EAD approved well before GC.

Take a look at the bottom of this link to file for I-765 (EAD) and not have to pay an additional fee: http://www.uscis.gov/i-485

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

Thanks everyone! With moving over a 1000 miles away buying a new house and everything that go's along with that I forgot many of the things I learned on this journey. You folks got me back on track.

Thanks again,

Mike and Ruth

Sorry, I can't remember all of the details, but if you fill out the I-765 application, with all of the required documentation, and include a copy of your I-485 application acceptance (NOA1), there is no additional fee associated with filing the I-765. There are plenty of recent threads directly speaking about that very situation. May as well file the I-131 app also, same deal. You never know if there may be a need for an emergency trip home prior to adjudication of the I-485.

Hang in there, and good luck with all of the boxes. Enjoy the new digs.
