Authorized Purchaser vs Name of Credit Card Statement

Hi,

My wife is an authorized purchaser on all of my, now our, credit cards, but her name does not appear on the statement. When I have asked to have her name added to the account I was told that authorized purchaser was the only way to go. Is there a way to have my wife added to my account such that her name appears on the statements?

Thanks,

Art

Thanks,

Lyn and Art

Try starting a NEW joint account for the both of you, instead of adding her to one of your pre-existing accounts.

YMMV.

American Express were able to do this for me -- they added my wife's name to all new statements.

Be prepared for the eternal waiting game. Be prepared for average news.

Some CC/utility companies just don't let you do that. Hopefully having a joint account will work!

In such cases, provide an image of both cards (showing same number for both you the owner of the account and spouse as authorized purchaser) and then throw in some random statements from the two years (which will have only your name) to show that the credit card is still active. Good luck!

Agree with Happy Chic, , with one exception (sorry)......

We did exactly as you described, thought all was well, until we received the RFE. As a consequence, we threw in ALL of the statements since the inception of the marriage. USCIS, with their seemingly National Enquirer-type, 'enquiring minds want to know' mentality, then seemed content with our RFE response.

YMMV.

We don't have amex and we don't want to open more accounts - its probably too late for that anyway.

Hmm... that will be a lot of paper, but, that seems to be what they want. I can dump a bunch of statements.... will see how we do.

Thanks,

Lyn and Art

My Wife added me to her AMEX account and took the card to me in Belize while we were waiting for the I-130 to be approved.

Once I arrived in the USA I already had 7 months with the card and more importantly A CREDIT SCORE . This made it fairly easy for me to get my own credit card while we are keeping the others together to show the officers that we co-mingle finances.

One thing I have read is that couples getting the waiver for interview (what's the acronym again?) didn't get it because they had overwhelming evidence of their relationship in the AOS. Some said they sent the bare minimum and still got a waiver. If your petition gets a waiver, then you will have time to gather more evidence during ROC. That way, you might avoid an RFE, too.

Any thoughts on just providing 'just enough' and worry about the next action after USCIS decides on what they want to do?
