I generally love to fly. I like take-offs and landings, and looking out the window. I like the little personal TV's on the seats (makes the flights go so much faster). I even like the food, mostly!

However...babies crying for long periods of time, kids being nosy or kicking the back of your seat repeatedly, no matter how many times you ask their parents to get them to stop, the assh*le who always ends up in front of me who slams his seat back into full recline immediately and for the whole flight, getting dehydrated and only being offered water/drinks once or twice on a 8 hour flight. I can never sleep on planes either.

The best part about flying though is offering to get bumped off the flight in exchange for some goodies. Joe and I did this during the summer when we were returning from Frankfurt. They put us on a flight the next day, set us up in a nice hotel, gave us 3 meal vouchers each, and flight vouchers for 550 euro each. We're going back to Germany on the 16th on NWA's cash. We've got our fingers crossed that it'll happen again.

Neither Craig nor I like to fly. I wouldn't say that I'm *terrified* really, but I just never get totally comfortable either....any bit of turbulence and I feel all anxious again. Funny enough, I feel most comfortable on the prop planes, even though I know (statistically) they would be less safe. It's because I worked at our small regional airport here for two years, and we got to fly free during that time...I had to fly some for training, and some was just recreational. My parents and Corey (and a spouse, had I been married at that time, which I wasn't) could fly free too, so that was nice. I think part of why I don't mind props as much (aside from just being used to the planes now...we flew Beechcraft 1900s and Brasilias..I forget the type...30 seaters or so...33 with pilots and jumpseat I think)...is partly because we just flew about hour-long trips. I mean, if I could do an hour or two-long trip on a 777, that would be GREAT...I think I would actually enjoy it. As the hours go on and on, though, I just get more nervous..... M.

I hate people whose traveling with their laptop sitting in coach and don't have no consideration for the person sitting next to them. I was on a flight to Seoul, window seat but this fellow in the middle seat, had his laptop and SPREAD his arm like his sitting at a desk, I try to ignore it and be a little bit accomodating but after about 45 min, Starting to get fed up, this dude right elbow was half way on my seat, when i got up to read a magazine we were basically ARM WRESLING or should I say ELBOW WRESTLING, finally I had to lift the middle Arm wrest of the seat to a 45Degrees angle, I guess he got the point after that

Generally I like flying. My last trip to indonesia, I took somewhere around 8 flights and went through 6 diffrent airports (MSP,SFO,CGK,DPS,TPE,JOG) and 3 diffrent airlines (EVA Air, Garuda Indonesia, and NWA). The flights ranged from just over an hour to 14 hours. I find it facinating to look up the history of a given plane I have been on by searching its registration number on the internet at sites like http://www.airfleets.net. You can fine a registration number painted somewhere on the outside of the plane, ussualy near the front or back.

What I dont like is turbulance, especially when im trying to eat. 14 hours in economy class isnt very confortable but you get what you pay for I guess. Having to watching the safety training video on every flight. Really for me, thats about it.

I hate it when someone puts there seat right back, i get really narky at that point, i travel with my 5 year old daughter, she has NEVER once had a tantrum on a flight or had a screaming match!

I hate the toilets, my child has to grip the seat or she feels scared (even when i hold her).. there so dirty.. i make her wash her hands 2 times AND use antibacterial gel.

I hate the smell of them, the way they make me feel like i cant breathe... god the list goes on.

Getting home to my husband .. priceless!

A pilot friend of mine said that the dangerous part of flying is during take off and landing. When the airplane is already up in the air, it's just like a car being driven on the street. I was terribly afraid of turbulences after a bad flying epxerience I had before, and always so happy when the pilot said "flying attendants, landing position" but after what my friend told me... I just have to start praying when the plane starts to take off/land. I've heard of some airplanes crashed due to failure in take off/landing...but hardly ever heard about airplanes fell down from the sky..except for the latest Adam Air (Indonesia) which was suspected to explode in the air....dunno why.

Bottom line......I hate flying :(
