K1 & Pre-nup

My family has requested that my fiance (beneficiary) sign a prenup - we've talked about it at length and he's OK with it.

Will a prenup cause any problems with our K1/AOS/ROC workflow? Not sure how it looks to have a pre-nup, or if that is even considered by the government. We got our K1 NOA2 last week (YAY) so we want to make sure we don't do anything that would undo the approval.

A pre-nup will not affect anything.

That said, my family also requested I have my fiance sign a pre-nup. I simply told them, "you show me yours and I'll show you mine." Their requests immediately stopped.

After marriage, you can make up Wills that say what you want to say, perhaps incorporating or referring to the prenup language. (Note: Not a lawyer here.)

It's never too soon to create your Wills, medical powers of attorney, and similar documents. These make great evidence for ROC and are even more valuable to have in "life."

Be aware that depending on your state it might take a while to get the pre nup sorted or it might need to be completed a set amount of time before the wedding. We didn't and we ran out of time to get a pre nup done, same thing happened with our post nup and buying our house but that is another story.
