Hi,

For the financial support evidence, what did you bring to the interview? I have here a scanned and printed copy of W2 form, will it be enough? Or do I still need an affidavit of support from my petitioner?

Thank you!

ssarita is right. You need copies of the last 3 years tax returns and the affidavit of support. It doesn't hurt to bring more than asked for, either. Better to be over prepared than under prepared. We brought the affidavit, taxes for the last 3 years, letter from employer, pension contributions, assets, and bank balances.

Met 2008. Moved in together 2010. Married 2015. Baby Z joined us 2017 .

Follow the embassy instructions letter!! You need the I-134 with original signature, a COPY of your most recent tax return and W-2 (NOT 3 years).

http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/1178798/feb2015/K1-K2%20Applicant%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_February%202015_.pdf

Bank statements, etc are not needed, nor pensions or assets. USEM does not consider assets, they look at income only. If your income does not meet the 125% of the I-864P poverty guidelines you will need a co-sponsor (and that is not a given with USEM either)

The affidavit of support is mandatory, plus taxes for the last 3 years. if you want to bring anything extra like bank statements thats on you.

Not so for USEM in Manila.

I received an email from the US embassy Manila with a list of required documents to bring in the interview. An evidence of financial support is not listed there but still I want to be sure. It was submitted in NVC by my husband. In the list are the documents from PSA and the medical exam result. I already have a copy of his W2 for this month (he'll send me his 2nd W2 for this month on Friday maybe).

Also make sure to have a CENOMAR from PSA

You mean W2 for the last year? W2 is not a monthly paystub which should not be confused with bi-weekly or monthly paystub. It also helps to bring IRT for the last year, but you don't need last 3 years of tax return.

 I see you are IR/CR-1 so the I-134 is not the form used, the I-864 is the form. Plus here is the correct link for the instructions letter you need. http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/1178798/feb2015/IV%20Applicant%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_February%202015_.pdf

Good day. I also have the same question. My husband already submitted the original I-864EZ form to NVC. Does he need to fill up another I-864 form for me to bring to the interview or can I just bring a scanned copy of the I-864EZ that he sent to NVC?

Follow the embassy instructions letter. USEM wants a SIGNED I-864, not a copy.

Hank,

What if the petitioner only had millions of dollars in assets but no income or work, for that matter?

What if he/she is retired??

Millions of dollars in assets that produce no income? Petitioner needs a better financial adviser.

Retired people have income. I do. I just don't have to go to work ;)

Don't confuse income with employment.

This topic is confusing as I see questions for cr-1 visa with answers for K-1 visa.

for the cr-1 visa you should of recieve a interview letter that will have a list of documents with a letter code that tells you what needs to be done with the documents. For the financial documents the letter should be y meaning that the nvc sent that document to the embassy. However I will still recommend for the cr-1 interview to bring the financial documents to the interview. In case for some reason the embassy does ask for it . When my wife did her interview I sent her all the financial documents and the embassy did not ask for any of it . But still it is better to have something you do not need then not to have it

below is the part of the interview letter you should have recieve with the letter codes

While the applicant was processing at the National Visa Center, we asked him or her to submit certain forms

and documents. On the following pages, we indicate the status of each of these forms and documents and any

action the applicant needs to take to prepare them for the interview. Please refer to the document status code

definitions below to determine what action to take for each item.

Document Status Code Definitions:

A Obtain the original or a certified copy of this document and present it at your interview

C You must bring this entire interview letter to your interview

D The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate

F The NVC did not request this form or document

G You withdrew your I-601A, Application for Provisional Unlawful Presence Waiver, with USCIS

H You must obtain two passport photographs of yourself and present them at your interview

I This form is incomplete. You must present a completed form at your interview.

J The NVC only received a photocopy of the document. You must present the original document at

the time of your interview.

O The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate

P You must request this police certificate from the issuing authority. After you submit your

request, the issuing authority will send the certificate directly to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate

for your interview.

R You submitted the Immigrant Visa Application online

S The NVC only received a scanned document. You must present the original document at the time

of your interview.

T You must present an English translation of this document at the time of your interview

U You indicated this document was unavailable. The consular officer will decide whether to waive

the requirement for this document at your interview.

V View the website at http://havana.usint.gov/cfrp.htmlfor English

or http://spanish.havana.usint.gov/cfrp.htmlfor Spanish and follow the instructions.

X This document is unobtainable

Y The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate

Sorry mixed it up. I already have a copy of W2 and still waiting for the pay stub for this month not a W2. I already asked the lawyer for an affidavit of support (although it was already submitted in NVC and forwarded to USEM).

#1 for the interview at USEM... follow the EMBASSY instructions letter.

It is the letter for immigrant visas (which the IR/CR-1 is) http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/1178798/feb2015/IV%20Applicant%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_February%202015_.pdf
