Hi, my fiancé is planning to attend the interview with me, will the US Embassy in Manila let him come with me on the interview? Anyone who has been on this? Thanks all :)

Yes, absolutely. Not only will your fiance be permitted to attend the interview, in our experience, this will make the interview so much easier. The fact that your fiance goes through all the trouble of being with you during this important event speaks volumes about his love and commitment to you. When I attended Lyka's interview, I answered as many questions as she did. In our case, we have a large age difference, so my attendance was definitely key to showing the validity of our relationship. I highly recommend your fiance attending your interview, if possible.

I think it depends on the interviewer. I was not allowed by the american consul officer to attend but the Filipino allowed it. So I think it depends on who interviews you.

Based on my experience, from what I saw, and from what I've heard from others, this position by the consular officer is definitely unusual. It's possible that he or she MIGHT not want the US citizen at the consular officer window. BUT, in any case, it will definitely be a plus, in the consular officer's mind, just seeing your fiance with you, and knowing that he's there for you.

You can accompany your fiancé to the interview. Most of the time, the 'kano is allowed to attend the interview with the American consular officer. Your approval should be a slam dunk.

Thank you Marc, we have a large age gap and we want to show them how committed we are on the relationship.

But I saw a guy here who said that he was not allowed on the interview, how often is this? Does this depend usually on the interviewer?

I have not taken a survey, but when I attended my fiancee's interview, I saw lots of other couples with the American fiance attending and standing up at the consular officer window. I would be willing to bet that it's very unusual to not allow the US citizen to be a part of the interview. But, either way, your fiance will still be allowed to accompany you into the embassy, and even if your fiance is told to "sit down and shut up," it will be a big plus for the consular officer to see your fiance's smiling face their with you.

In my case, there were one or two questions where the consular officer wanted my fiancee to answer the question, and not me, but it was no big deal. The whole interview lasted maybe 5 minutes. Your fiance should definitely come, if he is able.

So you have attended the interview with your fiancée, did they ask you any question? I hope you can give us tips on what to expect from the interviewer, like what question do they ask. Thanks a lot :)

You were there in the embassy with your wife, you may not have been allowed to be at the window when the CO interviewed your wife, but that is not unusual.. after all - you are not getting a visa. ;)

Absolutely your fiance can be in the embassy with you during the interview process. Some COs allow him to be at your side during the actual interview, some will ask him to sit and wait. But he will allowed to be with you.

I will say this, it is a great experience, I was there with my wife and very glad I did attend. You can read my review in my profile.

I too attended my wife's interview. Was able to stand with her and her children when interviewed by the Filipino CO but when it was time for the American CO he greeted me, stated that he was thankful for me attending her interview but he kindly asked me to take a seat and if needed, he would call me up. He ended the conversation with a smile. I took a seat and watched as the recited the oath taking and then into the questioning. Five minuets later, she had her approval for a visa.

I also overheard another interview taking place at another window and there, a sister was trying to get her sister's kids a visa to travel with her as though she was the mother to the children, when after all it was discovered through questioning who the children belonged to. Took the CO 3 questions to uncover the truth. Once the CO knew, she told the girl that the visa was denied and that she could expect a follow up letter from USCIS. Which I can imagine was the official document explaining to her that instead of going to jail she would not be able to apply for a visa to the USA anytime soon. I think never!!

The experience of attending was wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about it. My wife appreciated that I was there as it helped calm her nerves.
