My fiancé is pregnant with my child. I am a US citizen. What is the best course of action to make our child a US citizen? We are currently working on getting approved for my fiancé to come to America. Our paperwork is in Ho Chi Minh City at the US Consulate. I unfortunately cannot go to Vietnam at this time, I am waiting for her to be approved before going to bring her back. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thank You, canadian_wife. My fiancé gave birth two weeks ago to a beautiful girl but now she doesn't have a birth certificate. She tells me that I need to go to Vietnam to take a DNA test to prove that I am the father of our daughter. I was hoping that I could write a letter stating that she is my daughter and have it notarized. I would also send supporting documents of her pregnancy and a copy of my passport with date stamps proving I was there during conception, Photos of my fiancé and I together, copies of air line tickets.

Sorry but what exactly would a notary be notarizing? Your personal promise that some remote baby is yours? I don't really see how that could be very meaningful evidence. VN is a high fraud country. I think more tangible evidence would be needed to vet, and circumstantial evidence that you were in country approximately time of conception while helpful doesn't really prove much.
