Someone has offered to sponsor my fiance as I am unemployed and have been a student for the past few years. The problem is that this person's daughter is acting as their financial power of attorney because a judge determined a few years ago that they were incompetent about financial decisions. Does this need to be disclosed? Can this person still be our sponsor? Does her daughter need to sign affidavit as well? Has anyone ever been in this situation before?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

yw

Get her daughter to sign off as well.

I would get another sponsor. I don't know how in depth the consulate would investigate a sponsor, but if the find that yours was deemed incompetent, that won't look good.

This person has the means to sponsor you?

If you can't get another sponsor, then yes, the daughter would have to sign off as well- a sponsor is making a financial commitment, and the daughter is the one who is empowered to make commitments on your sponsor's behalf.

Best of luck.
