Probably because it's a 200-300 word newspaper article.

I really feel I'm stating the obvious here.

Oh jeez? Are you going to get me thread banned again?

So in summary the thread you posted is inadequate, and lacked details? An provocative thread? The op had an agenda?

So many questions but so few answers.

I didn't get you thread banned, you did. Why should I take responsibility for what you do?

Perhaps you should look at these things as a starting point and if you are genuinely interested you can choose to flesh them out with your own research.

It's a forum term known as deflecting. If you pay attention, you'll notice a particular lack of answers to direct questions by certain persona on a regular basis.

As for what you were asking Lost, it's a well documented fact that while blacks comprise only about 13% of the US population, they commit about xx% of the violent crime each year.

Whites are more violent towards their own race (82.4%) than blacks are towards other blacks (40.9%). But black-on-white crime ratio is 38.6%, while white-on-black violence is 3.6%. Kinda skewed there.

One in every 15 (6.7%) black males is in prison. One in every 36 (2.8%) hispanics. One in every 106 (0.9%) white males. You can draw your own conclusions from those numbers.

Note: The quick look I took includes data from varying recent years, so may not reflect exactly in a numerical, linear fashion. But the trend should be visible to anyone willing to look.

Nate Silver at FiveThirtyEight crunched the data to find that on average, 5.2 out of every 100,000 American citizens were murder victims between 2010-2012.

While the median rate globally was 4.7 deaths per 100,000 people during the same period, the US's murder rate was much higher than other developed countries

If you factor out other races, the murder rate among white Americans is 2.4 people per 100,000, which is not substantially higher than other developed countries such as Greece (1.7 per 100,000) and Canada (1.5 per 100,000).

But for Hispanic citizens, the rate is 5.3 people per 100,000, and for non-Hispanic black citizens, the murder rate is a distressingly high 19.4 people per 100,000.

So based on your quote, 5.2 - 4.7 = 0.5. And one half of one person is a murder rate "much higher" than other developed countries.

While 2.4 - 1.5 = 0.9. Now allow me a little "mathematical liberty" as I postulate that 0.9 is almost DOUBLE 0.5; and yet, that 0.9 number "is not substantially higher" than other developed countries.

It seems the writer of your quoted statistics has a pretty liberal view of the terms "much" and "not substantially". Forgive me if I discount this article as not very meaningful nor accurate.

As for what you were asking Lost, it's a well documented fact that while blacks comprise only about 13% of the US population, they commit about 52% of homicides between 1980 & 2008.

so, i'll ask you..do you believe that black people are predisposed to murder? the title reads "america's shocking murder rate" so, i hope that you don't feel that black people aren't really american or that their deaths don't matter in the big american scheme of things.

I'm not talking about it being brought up here. The media in the UK seems fixated on US gun & racial issues. I don't understand it.

it probably seems totally weird to other countries that the us is all "we kill terrorists dead" across the globe but here in america, we're not concerned.

in fact, we don't consider these regular mass shootings terrorism unless the perp is of a particular religion.

I don't know.

However, I would say economic inequality factors pretty heavily in there.

so people in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Newcastle and Liverpool need pay raises :)

1) so, i'll ask you..do you believe that black people are predisposed to murder? the title reads "america's shocking murder rate" so,

2) i hope that you don't feel that black people aren't really american or

3) that their (black people) deaths don't matter in the big american scheme of things.

1) I would say yes, all the blacks in prison for homicide ARE predisposed to murder. But none of the ones I have ever met or been friends with seemed to be.

2) Not sure if you are intentionally trying to be provocative or where you got that idea.

3) I believe that all human lives matter, anywhere and everywhere. Race should never even enter the equation; only those who are looking for turmoil or a fight would ever insinuate any particular group of people deserve to die.
