FIlling out DS-230 while in the U.S.

Hi everyone,

I have been reading visajourney for quite some time and thank you all for all the valuable information you have contributed and the help you have provided up until now.

My (Mexican) wife and I are currently going through the IR-1 process and the I-130 was recently approved. The petition has yet to arrive at the NVC and we are in the process of collecting all paperwork for the DS-230 packet. My wife is currently on an extended visit to the U.S. on a tourist visa and I noticed on the DS-230 that item 35 asks her to list the dates of all previous visits to the U.S. If she is in the U.S. at the time of filling out the form, how should this item be answered? Should we put her anticipated departure date as the 'to date' or should we just write 'present'.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Do you mean the DS-260, the IV application? If so, I was in the US when I filled my IV application out and I wrote that date as my last visit to the US. You fill out the date of arrival and length of stay, so write the anticipated weeks or month of her stay, counting from her first day of entry.

DS-230 is dead replaced by ADS-260 that's online. I suggest you read through the NVC Process wiki so you know all you need to do to get through NVC.

If at the time you fill out the DS-260 (I think this question is on that form ) if she is still here just write present. That is still about another month or so away for that.
