Hello!

I wanted to share my experience and ask you for an advice. I went for my N400 interview a week ago. IO seemed concerned with age difference between me and my spouse, asked me all sort of questions ( the spouse where we live in, etc.) He asked if I have any pictures with my spouse on my phone ( BUT NEW APPLE update that morning crashed my phone - what a BAD luck - I told him that ).

Then He asked for utility bills, etc. Since interview letter asked for just tax transcripts - i brought them - for last 4 years filed jointly. He just copied W-2 from one of them. I told him unfortunately I did not bring but I have everything and we have join t accounts and I can even log in online and show. He said - you had to prove to us this marriage. Then I passed civics test and he said " we will need mpore documents from you ; basically all I've asked you about". I said - Yes, definitely,

Then I signed some forms that he gave me and then he gave N-652 with "test passed" and "written decision will be mailed".

My online status still says " Interview notice was sent".

I thought of just coming to USCIS office and dropping off all the documents I have.

Should I do that or should I wait for mentioned letter?

Please advise. I am in no rush, but me and my spouse were very excited for this and now = (

Has anybody had the same experience?

I came here by K1. for first 2 year green card and AOS I had no interviews whatsoever. Me and my spouse always lived together from day one so we had all the proof ( bills, pictures, family pictures, insurance, phone plans etc). So I just was looking what they need and send it to them and they never called me for any interview, just mailed the green card in both steps.

For the interview as I read on interview notice they asked for 3 years of tax OR other proof. So I thought that 4 years of tax would be enough and brought that. I am so so hard on myself that I didn;t bring utility bills etc. It would have taken me 5 minutes and could have saved all the hassle. I feel like a dumb ###.

I am not in a rus, but we planned to go for a trip maybe and with U.S. passport iit would have been easier and now we are just postponing it, so I feel bad that I make my spouse put life on hold = (.

So my question is - should I wait for a letter? Should I take all the most recent bills, pics, bank statements and drop them off in the office.

Officer told me what he is looking for and he also asked for all this. I told him I can log in online to everythin joint. He also asked for ORIGINALS of W-2. :Luckily I found those and he made copies. He asked for something recent with mailing address and I just picked up my dental bill from home so I showed him that since that is the only thing I had other than taxes. He said " we need more documents. We will mail you the letter, it will be self explanatory. No rush with documents. Thank you, bye"

And he checked " Passed the test" and " USCIS will notify you written decision"

Thank you all for listening to my story. Please advise.

I think you should wait for the letter, especially if the Officer has said "" we need more documents. We will mail you the letter, it will be self explanatory. No rush with documents. Thank you, bye" "

The unusual thing is you didnot have any interview for AOS through K1 and they did not give you any hassle at that time and this is all happening during citizenship interview. Our was a impromptu marriage from B1 visa. During the AOS interview we were questioned seperately because of our age gap. But the officer was convinced and we were fine. I am almost ready to send in my N400 application and I am confident that we would be fine .

I am guessing you sent only 4 yr tax return with N400 application ? just photocopy as much as possible and be ready for the letter. I am sure some more members would add better advices. Thanks

Thank you! I am putting package together with all the documents. When you file N400 they don't ask you send the taxes - so I brought them with me. I advise if you do it based on 5 yr still bring evidence of good faith marriage. After reading lots of stuff online they might request it even with 5 years - just my advice.

Also, what kind of questions did you ask when separated? I want to be ready for the experience in case they would decide to do it at this stage ( not sure if they do it at N400 or not).

well they seperated us and asked questions from general life ...like what is the color of the bedroom ...whats her favorite color and whats urs... then they brought in my wife and asked same questions in front of me ...they try to see that you are familiar with each others ways. If you are together you should not have any problem with that. But did you apply based on 3 yrs or 5 yrs ?

in case of application based on 3 yrs they are known to ask more questions & evidence than usual. I am sure you know this already. Just gather more info and evidences of joint activity. Here is an example of a member who has given a list what he showed on N400 application based on his 3 yrs marriage. I am really impressed what he has gathered....kind of following him myself

Wow . I am impressed. I definitely did not do my homework thinking I shouldn't bring anything other than taxes. Wow.wow.wow.

I basically can gather a lot too. I am just so anxious to show I have it all so I can hardly stop myself from going to the office and giving it to them!

Hey you can do an infopass appointment and show them what you have and ask them what is going on. How many days since you had the interview ?

Also this is my thought. I may be 100% wrong. You have an age difference factor, also they didnt interview you at AOS stage, plus you sent less evidences based on a 3 yr factor... thats why the Officer gave you a hard time as he needed more avenues to believe a legitimate marriage and living together. I am sure it would be ok ...but you may consider the infopass path

I was thinking of doing it now. But my spouse advised not to rush and wait for the letter as I was told.

So I have decided to wait for a month ( it's been exactly one week after interview today) and go by infopass on 30-35th day.

It is not 30 day waiting, it is a 120 day policy.
