Working around the airlines?

Hi folks. So as most people probably know, the price for a one way ticket is near enough twice the price of a return. Google tells me that if you buy a return with no intent to use the second half, the airlines 'come after you'... is this a common thing? Also, has anyone done something like buying a package holiday and only using the first flight?

If you don't use the return flight that is up to you. The airlines don't come after you. I have done this before because a round trip was cheaper than a one way. One time I wanted to change my return flight to a different day and the cost was $200 plus additional fee's and the one way ticket was $125 so I just bought a one way ticket and never used the return flight. You should be fine.

I recently purchased a one way ticket from Manila to the US for my fiance only slightly more than half the cost of a round trip ticket.

The airlines do not care if you do not use the return ticket.

We bought round trip and probably the majority of the others do too. Not aware of why you want a package holiday. Need a hotel as well?

Be sure and cancel your return with the airline.
