My fhusband and I recieved our eNotification for his EAD and Adjustment of Status on September 2nd and have our recipt numbers for each case, which we filed at the same time.

Today, we recieved our money order for the EAD back from USCIS through the mail. Did I misunderstand the filing fees? I thought the fee was $1070 for the Adjustment of Status and $380 for the EAD.

Dec. 04, 2014 - Form I-129F sent to Dallas Lockbox Facility.

Dec. 05, 2014 - Form I-129F delivered to Dallas Lockbox Facility @ 1100h.
Dec. 09, 2014 - Money Order presented for payment by USCIS.

Dec. 09, 2014 - NOA1 date as stated in hardcopy received on Dec. 15, 2014.

Dec. 15, 2014 - NOA1 Hardcopy arrived in the mail! California Service Center, baby! :dance:

Dec. 30, 2014 - NOA2 eNotification sent to me while visiting my honey!

Jan. 05, 2015 - NOA2 Hardcopy received while visiting the honey <3 Mom didn't check the mail for a few days so we're thinking it did actually show up on the 5th or so.

Jan. 14, 2015 - NVC received.

Jan. 16, 2015 - Case #, IIN assigned.

Jan. 21, 2015 - NVC says IN TRANSIT TO AMSTERDAM! :goofy:

Jan. 26, 2015 - Arrived at U.S. Consulate in Amsterdam!
Jan. 30, 2015 - Packet 3 Received
Mar. 11, 2015 - Medical
Mar. 19, 2015 - INTERVIEW! - APPROVED!!!!!!!!
May 11, 2015 - POE Philidelphia
Jul. 3, 2015 - MARRRRRIEDDDDDDDD <3<3<3<3

The EAD is free when you file for AOS and also the AP is free too. So congrats it is cheaper than you thought it would be!!!

08/13/2015: Priority mailed in I-129F to Texas LockBox.

08/13/2015: Started process on PCC for Guwahati, India.

08/17/2015: USCIS received I-129F petition.

08/19/2015: NOAI off to California Service Center!!

08/24/2015: NOAI receipt received.

08/25/2015: PCC received from Guwahati, India.

09/03/2015: NOAII Approval!!

09/04/2015: NOAII approval updated on website.

09/09/2015: NOAII received in mail.

09/24/2015: NVC received our case!

10/01/2015: Embassy receives case

10/15/2015: Sent out PCC for Thailand.

10/17/2015: Medical Exam.

...................: Received PCC from Thailand??

...................: Bio-metrics??

...................: Interview??

...................: POE somewhere on the east coast....

01/15/2016: Getting Married!!!

Oh my goodness, wow! Thank you for your swift reply. We did not file AP because we didn't think it would be necessary. Do you think we would still be able to file this for free?

Yeah I thought the same thing as you did like I have to pay an extra $380 for him to be able to work earlier but I saw a comment on a post somewhere that it was free so I searched into it and found out it was.

I don't know if still free after filing it but knowing this site someone else probably does know that information.

In my personal opinion, I think it should be and I read that it was a suggestion that you should file both of those forms together(AOS and EAD) but I think you can file them separately so why should you not be able to file the AP separately too. Also I know you can write on the AP that your travel dates are unknown so you dont have to exact dates for when are planning on traveling.

You can still file for AP for free.

Wait until you have the I-485 receipt NOA, then send a completed I-131 (for AP) together with a photocopy of your I-485 NOA, to the Chicago Lockbox. There will be no fee for your AP.
