Why the U.S. is No. 1 -- in mass shootings

And what makes the United States such a fertile incubator for mass shooters? A comprehensive analysis of the perpetrators, their motives and the national contexts for their actions suggests that several factors have conspired to create in the United States a potent medium for fostering large-scale murder.

Those factors include a chronic and widespread gap between Americans' expectations for themselves and their actual achievement, Americans' adulation of fame, and the extent of gun ownership in the United States.

Set those features against a circumstance the United States shares with many other countries -- a backdrop of poorly managed mental illness -- and you have a uniquely volatile brew, the new study says.

Gotta have the guns.

People don't know how to settle issues to they result to violence.

it's sort of crazy how quick these shootings are pegged as false flags. used to be the false flag talk didn't pick up for a day or so, now it's right away.

i actually heard a grown man, a grandfather, insist that this sort of thing doesn't happen in real life. but instead these killings are orchestrated by the obama administration start the gun grabbing.

personally i'm thinking that the constant killing is having an affect on all of our sanity, collectively. we don't really know how to explain what's happening, talking about murderers/fame whores all the time is pointless.

Well the good news is Wally World has announced that they will stop selling AR15s and other such riles.

The bad news is they will just fill those slots with lots of other types of guns.

Virginia killings: America is now averaging more than one mass shooting per day in 2015

This doesn't happen in my country with this level of frequency. Most adults could name all of the rampage style shooting incidents in the UK going back 30 years.

1987 - Michael Ryan, Hungerford.

1995 - Thomas Hamilton, Dunblane

2010 - Derek Bird, Cumbria

I wonder if any Americans can do the same...

I guess it all depends on how you define a mass shooting.

In this article they use the definition of the sub-reddit group "Guns are cool" who define "mass shooting" as any single incident in which at least four people are shot, including the gunman.

Well the one I left off of mine was Raoul Moat who in 2010 shot 2 people to death, blinded a police officer with a shotgun blast to the face and then killed himself after a standoff.

These incidents are big news here, but they aren't in the US, usually only when the victims are atypical.

Pretty newsreader gets blown away is bigger news than a half dozen black youths being gunned down in Newark.
