Good Afternoon everyone,

My name is Ladee and I am a February 2015 K-1 visa applicant. I have been searching the visa journey forums for any idea of how much the entire process may cost from start to finish.

Of course, the visa application cost $340.00

The sending of the application cost about $30.00

I have saved a few grand to cover the cost of the flight, hotel vaccinations and biometrics but I know that there may be a few unforeseen expenses...

Does anyone have an idea around how much I should have saved?

TBoneTX mentions all of the required governmental fees for the beneficiary. There are also costs for assorted items associated with the petitioner. There are a myriad of additional costs would include, but not limited to, copying, postage/courier services, travel costs (hotel, airfare, tickets, etc), medical fees, documentation fees....the list goes on.....

Needles to say this entire process is not for the faint of heart, nor light of wallet.

What do you mean "to finish"? All the way to citizenship? Or to immigration/marriage and your 2 year green card? Those are very different things. To just get to the point where you're in the US and have a 2 year green card, you follow what TBoneTX said up until (and including) the USCIS Adjust Status Fee. There are also expenses for required medical appointments and vaccinations, and those vary from country to country.

From the Visa Application Standpoint for the Bridgetown Embassy,

- Visa Application Fee (paid at the Embassy) - $265

- Med. Appointment is - $210 (base)

I recommend that your finace go to their regular doctor at home and get all the required vaccinations and keep the records to present at the the appointment.

- DHL Delivery Fee to send the passport depending on place.

I would also recommend renting a car because there is alot of driving around. Taxi fees are really expensive in Barbados

- med. appointment (you have to go from the appointment and pick up the next day)

- xray appointment

- embassy appointment

- delivery of passport to DHL office (close to the airport)

Don't forget there is usually a charge for the medical examination... Not sure about your specific Embassy but London's is 250 GBP for an adult over 16.

So far we have:

45$ for a copy of my Birth Cert (did this twice because I sent originals)
75$ for a copy of his long form birth cert
22$ for a copy of my divorce decree (did this twice because I sent originals)

25$ fedex shipping 4 day for paperwork from me
340$ for petition fee
265$ for visa fee
410$ for medical

200$ for train ticket to consulate
250$ for hotel room for interview

FROM I-129 to INTERVIEW: 1699$

foreseeable future:

90$ for overnight fedex once we have cosponsors paperwork
600$ for plane ticket for him to come here
400$ for him to ship his things
91$ for Marriage Lisence application fee

1070$ AOS
590$ ROC

Future: 2841$

Total for us: 4540$

This isn't including the wedding itself, and I'm sure there's a lot of little things I've left out. Like going to Fedex to print stuff and parking fee's when I went downtown to get a copy of my decree.
