This is a great opportunity to take copious photos of yourselves together in various situations and venues. Get them printed out, then hand them over at the embassy window, one after the other.

Mrs. T-B.-to-be and I did that before our Stokes interview. It was rather gratifying to hand over a zillion pictures with such eager, rapid-fire explanation that the collector was overwhelmed. You're being watched the whole time, remember.

Noted. I will be also getting photos with his family which I failed to do when I was last there, I think that's important too.

Remember, too, that body language and a sense of determined conviction are crucial. Consuls are "human lie-detectors" (this directly to me from an ex-consul who served at two posts). Practice over and over in front of a mirror to convince yourself that your mutual story and your individual answers have the ring of truth.

If I could overcome Guayaquil (then a consistently evil, Godforsaken, illegitimate-male-child hellhole of deception and abuse), you can triumph in Kingston.

by Joe Navarro; HarperCollins, 2008.

I haven't read it in some time, but the book was an easy read and I absolutely couldn't put it down. Go to your local library and check it out. It's valuable to know these insights in "real life," too.

LOL OK. wow I see they put you through the ringer years later you still have PTSS. What did they do, torture you and your fiancé? sorry to learn of your traumatic experience and I am glad you over came that. A true testament to say the least. thanks.
