should we call nvc now?

Our case was forwarded to Dept of State on August 4th... What's the next step? Should we call NVC, and if so, what number? And how much time do I need to wait on hold etc? I ask, because my schedule is really tight right now and I'm sorry, I don't have time to do research and find answers to common questions like these which have probably been asked 500 times over and over by people. So, I would appreciate if someone can post a short answer here. Re: Who do I call (what number) and what do I ask at this point? What if we don't call.. will we hear from NVC automatically? Will they only contact my wife overseas or me as well?

If your case was send to the NVC on Aug 4, then they likely have assigned a case number. Call the NVC 603 334 0700

you may need to call SEVERAL times before you are connected, they are open 7am-midnight EST

you call and ask for your case no and IIN

now that you have both numbers you will be able to log on at the NVC website and fill out the DS-261 choice of agent form and paid the AOS fee. Once you paid the AOS fee you should send in the AOS and IV packet. To save some waiting time at the NVC. It will take them 30 days or so to review the packets. While you are waiting for them to do that you can call them and have them review the DS-261 form on the phone if they have not done so. After they do that you can paid the IV fee and fill out the DS-260 immigration form and your case should be close to being complete unless there is checklist for something

Quick question. Just so I understand correctly, you're saying I can send in the AOS packet and IV packet now, eventhough the IV fee hasn't been invoiced and not DS-260 application hasn't been filled out. And this won't cause any complications?

Yes you can send in the AOS and Iv packet now. You can print out a cover sheet from the Aos payment portal. Send both packets together to the address on the cover sheet

No it will not mess up anything. If you call NVC they will tell you the same thing

There are 2 seperate process. One is reviewing of the documents.

The other is reviewing of the DS-261 form once that form is review (you can call and have them do it over the phone) then you can paid the Iv fee and fill out the DS-260 form
