Hi. I have been thru an annulment here in the Philippines and it doesn't need only good lawyer. You need to be wise where to file. There are family court Judges that are against annulment so even with a good lawyer it will just sit there for years. Where is she exactly from? I can recommend my lawyer and the court where I filed if she is close to that. But you mentioned south of Manila, that could be cavite or laguna or batangas? Let me know.

Ouch! Generally within metro manila it is difficult to get a favorable annulment. It will be easier doing it in the province if she have one. Otherwise, tell her to visit the Hall of Justice in their locality and inquire. She may get referrals there. Best way really is thru someone who knows someone that had a favorable annulment decision in their city. If she have relatives in other towns try that route too. This is not easy but ofcourse you wanted to make sure you will get a favorable decision considering costs will be around $3000 to 4000.

She just need to keep asking friends and family, maybe they know anyone who successfully did it. Sorry can't be of help since I am from the northern part.

Your advice is spot on! It's what I would recommend to the OP from my experience.

Just wanted to add, that a lot of cases take about 6 months if you are lucky but most 2-3 years. Be prepared to "hurry up and wait".

Also, a few weeks back there was a thread with a similar topic and someone was posting their lawyer's information and others had chimed in that the lawyer was good but difficult to work with. She took a "Marine Corps" approach. Try looking through the history as this is someone I would want representing me.

thanks Greenbaum :-)

Your welcome.

The one that I was referring to as a good lawyer that others spoke of is Atty. Dimpna (Dimples) D. Bermejo-Dulay and she is located in Davao City. Don't know if this helps but I'm trying to help ya man.

haaa....when I met my fiance she was an OFW working abroad in Japan where I was living. she filed for annulment prior to leaving for her 3-year contract and when she returned, she had to restart the whole process. She did it via Metro-Manila and yes...hurry up and wait is the the phrase. This is a serious test of both of your love, faithfulness, but more importantly your willingness to wait. The whole process too 2years 7months for her. even prior to it reaching the courts, she needed to go through 1 1/2 years of therapy to make sure 2 separate doctors clear her. Then another year-plus in the actual courtt-system. It was a pain in the ###, the actual filing of the VISA seemed like child's play compared to that process. I still saw her 2-4 times a year for 2-3 weeks at a time, but still, it was hard. And then we toss in her child that "they forgot to include in the court papers" so that was another wait. THEN when she went to get her medical screening down, the doctors saw that she was annulled, and guess wait...another doctor had to clear her so their office was certain that her previous therapy sessions were not fake....terrible

Most people get annulment lawyers in different provinces depending on the lawyers and how quick the process is going in that particular province.

Hi, I'm sorry I just saw your post. Have not been here for awhile.

No. I don't know any Lawyer in Batangas. You can actually go to the local court of your place of residence and ask if they can recommend a good family lawyer. Also ask how are annulment cases in that court, they can at least tell you timelines.
