Passport appt issues at DFA Manila. Any advice please???

So we received our letter from the US Embassy saying we are ready to schedule our medical exam and Interview. But we are still waiting on our passport appt? We have all other IDs in hand already.

Originally we tried to schedule this past July, but we were told they weren't accepting any more appts for July due to technical problems and typhoons???

They schededuled us for August 19th then they messaged us and switched it to Aug 11th, then back to Aug 19th. Then we just got another message saying they are moving our appt to Sept 18th.

Is there anyway we can get a faster passport appt w the DFA because our time for our I 129 F expires October 10th and we want to finish this process as soon as we can??? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

The I129-F is extended by embassy up to a year, just contact them and let them know. Manila typically does it automatically but it would be safe to contact them. There was a thread started this morning....

We have heard from many about their delay with passports probably will not change soon do in part with the DFA software snafu. I wish I had a work around but I don't.

But here's a good news; if your are just renewing- DFA announced they will extend the validity of the expiring passports. You can extend the validity for 2 years. Visit the local DFA to get the extension. I will definitely do this by October, my passport will expire in May 2016 I don't believe they can clear the back logs this month.

On Aug. 7 i log on DFA appoinment system to renew my passport the earliest schedule they gave me is 7th of September in ASEANA And then just now i tried to get an earlier appointment been looking at different branches here in Manila and then suddenly theres theres Aug. 27th slot again in ASEANA branch. Just grab it quickly better than September.

Heard the news last night on renewing passport. Can i just go to any DFA branch?

You can do the extension on Aug 27, upon renewal request for an extension of your passport. Bring some docs to prove that you need your passport for K1 processing.

You never know when your new passport will be released given the back log. With your extended passport validity, you can proceed to do medical, interview etc. Claim your renewed passport when it's ready, they will cancel your old passport extension.

- that's what I think they would do but clarify upon renewal. Ofcourse when you have the new one it doesn't make any sense to use the old one.
