K-1 - Montréal - When/how do you pay the $265 visa fee?

Hello!,

I couldn't find a direct answer to my question elsewhere, so... for processing my K-1 through Montréal, when do I pay the $265 visa fee? When I finish and submit my DS-160 online, or at the consulate itself when I go for my interview?

Unrelated question; how did you know when Montreal received and logged your case? Did you have a number to call other than the NVC?

I watched the status on the CEAC site. I was able to track it from in transit til it got marked as ready, but I also knew that READY doesn't always mean READY. So we sent our packet 3

when we thought it was ready, but then we noticed the "Status Update Date" changed on the CEAC site, so we sent packet 3 again.

The date they recieve it isn't the date they log it though, it could take up to a couple of weeks to log after they recieve.

But we didn't really know until we got the letter, a week after we had already completed packet 4. We just kinda went with our gut and figured the next updated date was the logging date.

MTL doesn't do calls, they only respond with the online inquiry form: http://canada.usembassy.gov/contact/public-inquiry-form.html

You can ask them there, once you know, but you may be told to just wait X amount of time or wait for the letter.

Ah I see. So we should go ahead onto the CEAC website and apply for the visa there and watch it from there.
