This sucks! This morning my husband received an email stating the our appointment was changed from August 5th to August 19th. A whole 2 week difference! I called the number provided on the DR Consulate site to verify if that email was for real and they said it was...mind you, the email was extremely unprofessional and nothing like our original appointment letter, so we had our doubts.

Needless to say it was real :(

I sent an email asking again, I wanted a written confirmation, and they replied that it was legitimate.

I requested for something be done, since I have have my vacation from work approved to be at the appt with the hubby on the 5th and I've had my flight scheduled since we received our first appointment letter in June.

Is anyone else going through the same thing? For an original August 5th appointment? Who else can I call so they can give us our appointment date back?

They have not replied to my other emails requesting an earlier appointment date and I have not received a valid explanation as to why it was rescheduled in the first place. When I explained about my vacation and flight, they told me that I don't have to go with him, but then again, everything on their site says it's vital that I do.

Confused and stressed...please help :(

So, sorry this happened to you

i only know many of the embassies have had a "systems down Problem" now for quite a while and put them off their normal schedule

if they have to stay with the 2nd appointment day, take your flight and use the time to make sure he knows every little thing about you

I don't believe it's a system down problem, if it were they would have specified that they were going to be closed for system maintenance & repairs. When I check the list of appointments there are other people with appointments for the same day so the announcement would have been made public on their webpage.

I am going to try and keep fighting that change until the last day possible, I just feel it's inconsiderate to cancel our appointment less than a week before it was originally scheduled for.

If I can't do anything about this situation I will just have to regrettably pay the extra $200+ to change my flight and see what I can do to change my vacation.

My husband knows me as much as anyone can know another I'd rather be there with him for the interview and the flight here.

Thank you you for the advice.

They changed my interview due to technical difficulties but I was very persistent in emailing them and was able to go a week after the original date. I emailed the ustraveldocs support team. If you need more info let me know. The format I used for the emails is in another thread. I can't find it now because I'm on my phone.

Thanks,

I have called the US number and sent 4 emails, 3 in spanish and 1 in english to support-dominicanrepublic@usatraveldocs.com and my husband called the DR number today. They all tell us the same thing, that our appointment was rescheduled and basically nothing else. When my husband called this morning they told him that they were having problems and they had to reschedule a bunch of people.

I asked them if they could reschedule us to an earlier appt and they said they would put in a ticket but no one has answered us back, so now i'm scared of changing my flight for the new appt date and then finding out they were able to move us.

I just find it strange that they would tell us that they had to reschedule a bunch of people and I haven't seen/heard anyone else commenting or complaining about it. When they closed in July for 2 days the published it all over the place. Our appt was 8/5 @ 8:00am and there are over 300 other people scheduled for that day as well. I've been worrying that something happened to our documents and they were misplaced and that's why we were moved. Or maybe it's more complicated since he would be coming in on a IR1 visa which is more permanent than the other ones...I don't know :(

But anyways, thanks I will check out your posts and see if I find your thread.

I was able to get on my computer this morning and find it for you :)

I sent the emails in this format:

Petitioner's Information:
Name:
DOB:
Beneficiary's Information:
Name
DOB:
Passport:
DS160 Confirmation:
Completed VAC:
Completed Medical:
Original Scheduled Interview:
Case Number:
Issue.
Your email would obviously say different things because your doing CR1. Be very specific about your issue. Explain that you booked your flight based on the original date and it is nonrefundable or transferable. Say that you are flexible and willing to go in at any during your stay in the DR but that you leave on a specific date.
Hope this helps :)
