The case for my step daughter's baby to come to live with us was approved by USCIS on 4/29/15. 10 weeks ago and still nothing from NVC.

Consulate is San Jose, Costa Rica

Visa is IR-2 I believe

Is this normal? What are the current processing times?

Thanks.

Have you called NVC? Try calling to find out your case number and invoice number. And the date it was received/assigned.

NVC has no record of the case. I emailed them at NVCinquiry@state.gov and also NVCresearch@state.gov

I think we need to call USCIS to see W T F happened to the case.

  • 2 weeks later...

We went to InfoPass appt this morning (Manhattan 26 Federal Plaza). Appt was 7:30am and we were out by 8am, go early.

Anyway, he informed us that they just sent the case to NVC on July 31st. Approved 4/29/15, forwarded to NVC 92 days later.

I asked why the long delay in sending to NVC, he started mumbling something about World conflict zones (I think he said Sudan) getting priority. In other words, some Sudanian or whatever is getting put ahead of tax-paying, voting US citizens for immigration processing. W T F?

This system is so out of whack, but there's nothing that anybody can do about it but bend over and spread 'em. There's not one politician who has the balls to actually try to get any of this cleaned up. When I hear Americans rant about other countries corruption and inefficiency im government, I tell them to look at their own governmental bureacracies before they start dissing other countries.

I am sorry. and I am also sorry you patiently waited so long. I would have gone ballistic on the phone with USCIS long time ago.

They just forgot to send yours. Somehow that excuse he gave you didn't impact most other people so somebody just made up something for you.
