I'm putting this out there in case any of you have seen this before. I searched but didn't find anything relevant to my question.

I originally got a green card in the 1970s? when my Canadian mum and I moved to the US and she married a USC. At that time, I had had all the usual childhood vaccinations and she had the paperwork for them, I guess. A bunch of moves and several decades later, I have no idea at all where such paperwork might be.

I surrendered my green card when I moved back to Canada in the 1990s.

Fast forward to now and my USC spouse (who got permanent residence here a few years ago) and I want to move back to the US.

I'm trying to figure out if someone my age (old!) who was previously granted a GC and passed the medical requirements long ago would have to re-take a pile of shots (I really hate shots) for things that I am confident I have been vaccinated for...but I don't have the paperwork for (except for the Tetanus booster and Hep shots I got before we went on our honeymoon in 2009).

If I do have to get them, I will get them ahead of the medical so I can get it over with and not live in dread, but I'd really rather just avoid it all together!

Your best bet is to see your family doctor here in Canada and ask for a titre test. The draw 1 or 2 vials of blood (my LEAST favourite thing!) From that they can determine your level of immunity to the required vaccination list (bring it with you).... When the results are in, discuss with your doc and get a copy of the test results and that is sufficient proof at the medical appointment.

07-11-2017 NOA1 date (rec'd on 14th)

08-03-2017 Daughter and I completed biometrics; May 2018 - I had to redo my biometrics (reason unknown)

WAC17283xxxxx....and we wait...400 days

07-13-2018 I-551 extension stamp (12 mths) obtained at USCIS office in Detroit

09-20-2018 Transferred to TSC

10-15-2018 Text notification "New Card Being Produced"   YAY!!

Urgh! my veins are hard to spike, so that's potentially worse than getting shots for me :lol:

Thanks though, I wasn't clear on the procedure for that testing (who could do it). Of course I'm really hoping for a bye but the G isn't big on byes, really, is it.

Yep - they're only going to accept proof and they don't make exceptions...best to get it taken care of at your leisure (if you can call getting shots that...).

Related to this, I was looking up the list and trying to figure out which vaccinations I might need to get, and the government lists are l o n g with meningococcal this and pneumococcal that, BUT then I went to Dr Cheema's website, and according to that, at my age I only need TDAP, MMR, and seasonal flu in season, and they'll take my word about chickenpox.

I know I have no proof of MMR but it's free with MSP so I'll just get it, and I have to verify that the tetanus shot I had a few years back was the correct one.

Can anyone who's recently been through this verify that the website is correct and I don't need that laundry list of shots, coming from Canada?

Tdap

Varicella (or having had chicken pox)

and flu in season.

Because you had the MMR so long ago, I'd get a new one.
