My Fiance just went to St. Lukes for medical.. They informed her that her passport was Damaged and may not be accepted at embassy. The front cover of passport is peeling away a little bit, like delaminated slightly.

She is being told she cant even get appointment until August for replacement..

Any ideas??

could she go to embassy now and ask if they will accept?? Her Embassy interview date is set for July 27?

We dont know what to do! Thanks!!

You have two choices here as I see it. First, I am not familiar with how much damage you are talking about but having said that, I would get some glue that dries clear and place some under the part that is peeling away and lay it down on the fresh glue. Place a heavy object to keep it from peeling up during the drying process. Large heavy books would work great. Take the passport with you for your interview and do not make an issue of the passport. Let the CO "discover" the condition of the passport and if they don't see it or don't make an issue of it then you are free and clear. If asked tell them the truth that it was peeling and you repaired it.

Second, At this time you could file for a new passport but it would never be ready in time for your interview further possibly delaying your visa.

Good luck and report back and tell us what you did and how it went at your interview.

Who told you that you could not schedule an appointment at DFA until August? On July 12 my asawa scheduled an appointment at the Cubao office for July 22. Many time slots were available on that date.

Regardless of that fact I would go along with Greenbaum's suggestion and just use some regular white glue between the 2 pieces. Not a big issue. I think sometimes the nurses / employees at SLEC just mess with the customers because they can. Maybe jealousy? I don't know. But they do realize that this whole ordeal is really stressful for the patients and they just add more to the stress.

Doubtful they have any idea at all what is acceptable at the USEM Don't worry about it. As long as all the date is still readable the microchip is still intact everything will be fine.

pic of passport

That is very fixable with my suggestion. You would have to put it under a microscope to see if it ever was split. Relax, glue the passport and move on to more important things. With that passport you will be fine if fixed with glue.

Good luck..... Hey, if you would tell us the "rest of the story" once you have your interview. Would like to know what you did and if anything was said.

Did SLEC accept her passport and stamp it with their seal as proof of medical completion?

Ok.. glue worked great.. slec did question her about not getting a new passport.. fiance explained that it would be 3-4 weeks and she couldnt remain in Manila that long.. she also said, you offered me the option to use it or not, so I'm electing to use it.. the woman said ok and wrote something on back of her receipt. . So medical done!! Interview on 27th or sooner if we catch a cancelation! ! :)

Okay. One down one more to go. Since USEM doesn't know about the visa just play dumb at the interview. If she gets asked then explain it away. Personally, I don't think she will have a problem. Let us know how she does at the interview. Explain to her that she needs to answer all questions honestly but not to volunteer information. Good luck
