Okay so technically my priority date is current. My case is not complete yet. Delays occurred due to the website issue and i could not pay iv fee and fill form DS 260. I finally did that on 8th july. Now im just waiting...

My husbands oath ceremony is on 22nd july and then he will become a citizen!! Now im not sure whether to continue with my F2A process or should my husband upgrade it? I read that it takes 2 months to upgrade? But im already done with all NVC steps.. would it still take that much time? If any one of you has been in this situation please share your experience. I just want to know what would be better and what option would get my interview scheduled faster. Thanks in advance

hi

at this point it doesn't matter, you will complete the case and get the interview, it won't matter if he is a USC or LPR, it doesn't make it any faster

but he should update his status anyway.

thank you for ur reply.

You mean that once he naturalizes, he should call NVC and inform them that he is USC now?

You should not rush into informing NVC about citizenship. If you wait untill first week of august then your visa interview will be in. Then inform them so that they can not delay or cancel interview. There is no rule to inform them about citizenship right away. Its just my opinion but your husband can not call nvc and tell them that he is us citizen because without oath ceremony or naturalization certificate, you can not call yourself citizen.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes im thinking to just wait and see how things go. Probably that will be faster route as my date is current now. And i do know that without oath he isnt a citizen. If we were to upgrade, we were going to that the very next day of his oath ceremony.

Sorry i overlooked that you did mention about informing nvc after oath. You are lucky that you have only couple of steps left whereas in our case(my wife's sister), no welcome letter yet. Luckily my wife and daughter are citizen so least worry. Otherwise it would be so hard to live without your love ones. I am not sure how lot of you stay positive for so long..
