Hi all! I am trying to gather information from those that were impacted by the hardware failure that delayed visa issuance. I am tired of waiting for our visa, tired of not getting any answers, and out of ideas as to who to try to contact next.

I am hoping that if I can gather enough information, not only will it help those still waiting, but I would also have real stats to provide to my senator's office, which would hopefully trigger an investigation as to why the immigrant visas and K-1 visas are still delayed and why the DOS has left us to fend for ourselves. While I am personally most interested in info from those that had interviews on June 9th and 10th, especially in Cairo, I would love input from all that had interviews during the time the system was down, June 9th through June 26th. The greater the response, the better.

Thank you in advance!

1. Did you have an interview between June 9th and June 26th?
a. If so, which date?
b. Were you approved at the time of your interview?
c. Were you required to send additional documentation to the embassy before issuance of the visa?

2. Are you still waiting for your visa or has it already been issued?

* How did you find out it was issued?

4. What embassy/consulate were you interviewed at?

2. Are you still waiting for your visa or has it already been issued? Still waiting
a. If it was issued:
* What was the issuance date? N/A
* How did you find out it was issued? N/A
b. Have you received the visa yet? N/A
* If yes, what date did you received it? N/A

3. When is the last time you case updated date was updated on the CEAC website? July 5
a. Did the status update with it? No
* If yes, what did it update from and to? N/A
* If no, what is your current your case status? Ready
- How long has it been on this? Since before the interview
4. What embassy/consulate were you interviewed at? Cairo
a. Have you tried contacting them? Yes
* If so, what method did you use to contact them? Email and phone
- If it was by email:
What date did you email them? I contacted them multiple times. 6/23, 6/25, 6/28, 7/1, 7/5, and 7/7.
Did you get a response? Yes, twice. Once on 6/24, and again on 6/29. This was only after I put (SECOND RESPONSE) in the subject line.
How many days did it take to get a response? After resending the email with ( SECOND RESPONSE), the following business day
What was their response?
On 6/24, they let us know that they were still having technical issues and ad soon as they were resoled, they would issue our visa.
On 6/29, they let us know our visa is in the final stage and would be issued shortly.

- If it was by phone:
What date did you call them? We called multiple times.
Did you call the embassy directly? Yes, we tried both the land line number and mobile number on 7/6. They charged us 5 le for each call which brought us to an automated system.
Did you call an alternative number? N/A
Was it a call center, or a US Travel Docs number? Called the US Travel Doc number for Egypt per the approval letter provided at the conclusion of the interview, 6/28, 7/1 and 7/7.
Were you able to speak with someone? Yes, all three times.
What was the outcome?
On 6/28, I was told they had no information on our case and that I needed to email the embassy.
On 7/1, I was told that our case was ready for interview. When I explained that the interview was on 6/10, I was told that maybe our visa was delayed because the CO was making up his mind as to whether or not to approve the visa. When I explained that the visa had been approved, then I was told that maybe they were missing something and were waiting for use to send it to them. When I explained that the embassy responded to me on 6/29 telling me that the visa was in the final stage and would be issued shortly, then I was told to just wait. When I asked where he got the idea that the CO was reviewing our case and if there was a note stating this info, I was told no, they were just guessing, they only see the information we see on the CEAC website. I asked why we were told to contact them then, if we don't receive our visa in a reasonable time. He couldn't answer. He then told me to wait longer.
On 7/7, I was told that there is an error in the CEAC system as my case is still showing ready even though it was updated in 7/4 and again on 7/5. She made a ticket to escalate the issue in hopes to get a response from the embassy. She said we would be contacted once they have received a response.
