Joint bank accounts question

Hello,

Husband and I had separate bank accounts (but one joint savings too) for the first year and a half and then we decided it would be better and easier for our bills to have just one joint bank account altogether. Will this cause an issue ?

And also our bank charged us $4 per statement boo! So I requested monthly ones instead of quarter ones since they don't have this option online or per request . Is this ok ?

I think that should be okay. You do have a joint saving account throughout your marriage, and then you got a joint checking account too. At least it's better than only having one joint account? Our situation is similar. We've had a joint checking account since we got married, but only got a joint saving account and joint credit card in the end of last year (we're mailing our application soon).

Monthly statements are of course okay. When people here say they send quarterly statements, they just mean sending one of the monthly statements in every quarter. :)

Thanks ! Good then! We have a bunch of other evidence too like leases, wills etc but not joint health insurance since we both got some from our jobs which is cheaper than having a joint one.

Do I have to write a letter to explain why we did not have a joint bank account from the beginning?

Hi,

I have a very similar situation. Shortly after my wife obtained her job, a little over a year ago, we set up a joint bank account. However, I still have my own separate account from before we knew each other. She has one job, I have two. Paychecks from one of my jobs goes directly into the account I have on my own, and paychecks from my second job is directly deposited into our joint account, just like her paychecks. I have a savings account but that is on my bank account that she is not on. We write our checks for rent from our joint account. I pay our JOINT credit card bills from my bank account that isn't joint. Is that a problem? Should I just go have her added to my original account as well? We file for ROC soon and I am starting to think that maybe this is going to look strange...

Thanks

This is what we did at the beginning to give us more freedom about our money but then we were eh lets combine too much confusion. We still kept our account but our primary is the joint one. I think it's ok many couples do that I am just not sure if I should explain it when I send the I-751

I called the bank that we have separate accounts and we had them before we opened the joint ones and they require $30 per statement which is insane. We can't see the statements online for 2013 and it's bad. My husband doesn't want to pay so much money so that leaves us with statements from my account , the joint, the credit card and his from 2014. I guess this will be a big issue no ?

You couldn't print your statements online? $4 a statement seems rather steep.

I printed his statements from August 2014 until now. They don't go back further.

So do I have to request every month from August 2013 until 2014 or is it ok if I send with the I-751 3-4 statements from 2013?
