Hello, I had a little car accident yesterday and I do not know what is the proper way to handle it. Here's what happened: I left work last night and found my driver's side door was all smashed and dented, the person who damaged my car left me a note said to call her because she backed into my car. So I called her and she said that I need to call her insurance company to settle things. Her insurance company is 21st Century Auto Insurance... I called and they said they will start a claim process and if their policy holder found at fault, they will repair it for me.

However, I have heard so many terrible stories that insurance company may try to argue with you to try to not take responsibility or even they pay you for repair, they will pay far less than what it will cost to get the car repaired. I am not sure what I should do here. I have not called my own insurance company, should I called my own insurance company?

If you called her insurance and they started a claim you should be ok. Every insurance company is like what you describe they are in the business of making money after all.

You can call your insurance and see what or if anything they will do. Ours for example would not do anything unless we took out a claim on ours till the other one payed.

call the police and file a police report, first.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

If that's possible. I had someone put a dent into my car in a store parking lot once. Police told me that that's private property where the accident occurred and they won't bother doing anything. This was many years ago in Davidson country, TN. We got it all figured out between the parties involved and the insurance companies. No big deal, really. No major damage either, though.
