Submit your AOS, your EAD and your AP at the same time. The costs are waived and you are gathering things anyway. You never know what might happen and it would be easier to not have to jump through hoops. You might end with a visa interview waiver and it could be a year or more to get your green card. File with your AOS to save problems later.

Some people receive a letter from the local office that they may not have an interview. This happens in very busy offices. The issue with that is that it can take a year or more to get a decision. While not having to deal with the interview is nice and saves on the nerves some. Having to wait a year or more for the Decision on the Green card is another type of wait. You may have a busy office and get one of these letters.

If they interview you usually takes about 6 months and you get your GC.

If they waive the interview seems to take twice as long and you then get your GC.
