Hello guys! Just wanna ask if Marriage Certificate from NSO is required for filing I-130 or just the copy from the Local Civil Registrar? Thanks!

Hello guys! Just wanna ask if Marriage Certificate from NSO is required for filing I-130 or just the copy from the Local Civil Registrar? Thanks!

USEM likes to see BC's and MC's from NSO not from LCR's. I think in the past it's been too easy to bring forged documents and so documents from the highest governing body is what's required and NSO is that entitiy in the Philippines.

USCIS accepts the LCR version UNLESS your i130 will end up in Nebraska where they want the NSO version.

For NVC and USEM, they will definitely require the NSO MC.

Photocopy of the NSO MC will be accepted. But it wouldn't hurt to send the original if you have lots of it. Lol.

We did send the original.

Really interesting because now not even the NVC requires the original NSO version of any certificate for CR-1 visas. Copy is sufficient.

However, you must be prepared to show the original at the interview.

Our I130 package went to Vermont and they did not question only having LCR MC. Before Oct '14 NVC wanted original of the NSO version, much to our dismay. Go figure. I guess all fraud related.
