Interview was Scheduled Last minute by Phone by USEM

Hello!

Long story short, I have my interview set up for June 2. On friday May 29, I received a phone call from US Embassy (private no) that due to understaffing, they need to move the date of my interview.

As I am based in London, the CO said they need to move the dates for all applicants based in London. He initially proposed June 11. But we agreed to move to June 4 due to my non flexible new work schedule. The CO asked me to move the appointment date on the website too.

I am very concerned if this is a normal practice? Is there anyone here experienced the same thing that USEM in London called last minute to change appointment date?

I read somewhere on the USEM blog that the IV unit can't make any changes to the file including appointment date?

This is very nerve wrecking. My worst nightmare is they made an error and I am going to miss the interview! :(

I wouldn't worry they do this all the time but why not call the Embassy and confirm the date with them so you can relax and not worry for nothing? Praying your interview goes well and your Visa is given to you promptly. :)

Unfortunately the US embassy in London does not have any direct line or ext for IV apart from their switchboard number. Everytime I called, I ended up nowhere.

We can only contact them via online contact form. God knows how fast they can reply. My only proof is just the original interview letter.

I am not sure if I just try my luck going to the embassy on Tuesday instead. *gutted

It is not a routine thing, but it has happened before. They chose you because of your location. You haven't booked a train or plane ticket from Scotland or NI as well as hotel reservations that would have to be rebooked or even forfeited.

Yes, of course the IV Unit can change appointments. While your CR1 appointment was scheduled by NVC, the IV Unit does all the scheduling for the K visas.

Did he explain what he meant about move the appointment on the website too?

I think he wants me to update the appointment time on:

https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv/users/sign_in/iv

It says clearly on the page:

"Enter the Consular location and exact date from the appointment letter you received from the NVC, KCC, or the Consular Section.

You are not scheduling an appointment, you are only registering your appointment information from the received appointment letter.

The Consular Section will not process applicants who enter false or different information than what is on your appointment letter"

The CO said they would send a letter but not sure if I would receive it in time.

Do you think I should just go ahead and change it?

I am not complaining but changing interview date within 2 working days prior to the original date does not make any sense to me.
