Wait. Isn't ISIS/ISIL well known to have an incredibly sophisticated (for a terrorist group) social media and internet relations division?

Do grown adults honestly have no idea how simple it is to trick online polls? You set up a rotating IP and a small program to dump cookies. Set up a robot to click the 'yes' button at few-second intervals. Script kiddies can get the programs to do this without even knowing how to program a single line of code.

It takes five minutes to set this up to happen and a monkey with a wiki could do it.

Since NB and lost now want to give all that weight to online polls, let them consider just what a bunch of lunatics the Republicans are:

There are – no surprise here – huge differences between what Republicans and Democrats believe. Majorities of Republicans believe that President Obama:

• Is a socialist (67%)
• Wants to take away Americans' right to own guns (61%)
• Is a Muslim (57%)
• Wants to turn over the sovereignty of the United States to a one world government (51%); and
• Has done many things that are unconstitutional (55%).

Also large numbers of Republicans also believe that President Obama:

• Resents America's heritage (47%)
• Does what Wall Street and the bankers tell him to do (40%)
• Was not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president (45%)
• Is the "domestic enemy that the U.S. Constitution speaks of" (45%)
• Is a racist (42%)
• Want to use an economic collapse or terrorist attack as an excuse to take dictatorial powers (41%)
• Is doing many of the things that Hitler did (38%).

Even more remarkable perhaps, fully 24% of Republicans believe that "he may be the Anti-Christ" and 22% believe "he wants the terrorists to win."

Let that sink in, folks. According to this poll, one in four Republicans believes that Obama will battle it out with Jesus Christ in the final days. One in four.

It's not how many were polled - you can get good poll results from a rather small sample. What's important is how the sampling is done - it needs to be representative of the larger population. That is where online polls always fail miserably. Everyone knows this. Well, everyone but them right wing nutters.
