Cons? You abandon your green card. Should you want to move back to the USA you have to have a visa in which to do so. So lets say you and your spouse reconcile vs getting divorced but you've abandoned your green card. You need to start over from scratch to get it again. You do not get an expedited or speedy trip through the system just because you've had a green card before.
