I believe she's actually a little higher up, and has even told people at times to print out the forum and bring it for proof that she gave that specific directive. I'm just saying that she said for their immigration purposes (since generic police report validity dates are given by the issuing party), police reports are valid for 6 months. If they were told to get updated ones, it probably had other circumstances surrounding it.

If OP would like to get updated ones as a "better safe than sorry", then by all means- go ahead

My husbands Nigerian police report was marked valid for 3 months. Others in the thread I linked had the same 3 months validity.

Our CO requested a new one even though the one we submitted was still valid.

You never know which CO will do what.

The people on that thread I believe were speaking of the date someone spoke about that is printed on the police certificate. That is for other purposes, for immigration purposes, it is valid for a year after issuance. The people in the thread never said they were turned away at immigration or that they were told to get another one after the expiration date printed by the issuing party, they were merely asking if it really expired or not. There was an answer given by someone that answered according to the date printed, not the date that immigration goes by. I'm not sure why we're going back and forth about this.

It is pretty simple... the issuing party (the police department, I'm assuming) gives the certificate a 3 month validity- I'm assuming that timeline based on what others have said is printed. So for things such as jobs or other entities that are requesting it, it will expire after that date. For immigration purposes, it is valid for a year after issuance.

My point is there is no guarantee that for immigration purposes a PC older than 3 month or 6 month will be accepted.

My wife got her police certificate in January 2015 and her interview was last week. They didn't ask for another police certificate.

Your CO also, if I read correctly, corrected himself and did not make you submit a new one. I doubt he changed his mind just because you had a stokes interview- if they legally or by policy & procedure need another one because of the expiration date, there wouldn't be a way around it. He "changed his mind" more than likely because he made a mistake with the dates. Of course to save face, he might not have told you that could have been the reason why he accepted the police certificate after he initially said you needed a more recent one.

Yes, that is correct, he later said he has all he needs, it was still valid (under 3 months). Maybe he wanted to stall who knows.
