We on VJ have known this for years.

"I want to explain why this is false. I, an ethnic minority woman, cannot be racist or sexist towards white men, because racism and sexism describes structures of privilege based on race and gender.

"And therefore women of colour and minority genders cannot be racist or sexist because we do not stand to benefit from such a system.

"In order for our actions to be deemed racist or sexist, the current system would have to be one that enables only people of colour and women to benefit economically and socially on such a large scale and to the systematic exclusion of white people and men, who for the past 400 years would have to have been subjected to block colonisation.

"We do not live in such a system, we do not know of such a history, reverse racism and reverse sexism are not real."

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

It's a simple truth. Don't know why folks can't figure it out.

Sorry, I don't buy her conclusion.

That may be racist or sexist or both.

Background of this story is that an antiracism event was being sponsored and she banned people based on the color of their skin and their sex.

Sorry, I don't buy her conclusion.

I don't condone her actions. She exhibited the same behavior that she's rallying against.

But, what she says is 100% correct, there is no such thing as reverse racism here in the US.

You are correct. What she did is flat out racist and sexist. No reverse about it

pretty much why malcolm x didn't have as much white support as mlk did.

He didn't figure it out until his mecca. At which by that time, it was too late...

I don't think the notion of reverse racism is factual. To say that reverse racism exists, means that one race has ownership of racism. Racism can be displayed by people of all races no matter what the bias of the system (especially considering you can find a paradigm where a national minority actually is a majority in smaller community settings .

In general, you often hear people use the term reverse racism when it comes to grants or scholarships for minorities. That is not racism so long as that minority is seen as having a disadvantage.

But back on topic - yes Ms. Mustafa is both racist and sexist.
