Ticket in Maiden name - Passport in Married

Hello,

Bare with me, its slightly more complex than the usual above question.

My wife and I are on BA's airmile program, her name is in her maiden name.

However she is now married and her US passport is in her married name.

To make it even more confusing, she was a Mexican citizen when we registered her on the airmile program - her Mexican passport has her maiden name on it to match the ticket.

We are flying international, from Ireland to Boston.

If we bring a marriage licence will this help matters.

Cannot get flight ticket changed, don't think we can check in online either as its with a partner airline, very frustrating.

Any help would be hugely appreciated

Have you tried calling the airline and saying you need to change her last name on the ticket that's what they told me when I got in a situation like that just to call in and they'll change but it can't be like the same day of, you have to call I think at least a day before the flight .

I don't think that marriage licence will help. Airlines are extremely efficient with being sure that tf correct name is used.

It is a requirement of all airlines to ensure the tickets match the passport. This is why they ask every time to ensure they match when you book or collect them.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) enacted heightened security in 2009, and now airlines must collect Secure Flight data, meaning a passengers name, date of birth and gender. You provide this information at the time of booking your ticket. This information is then matched against the official no-fly list.

Most airlines will be accommodating with a name change, (some may charge a fee).

Request the change as early as possible prior to travel as it takes a while for the changes to be filtered to systems in other countries.

Do not be surprised if you are denied boarding at the check-in counter or at the gate if you fail to make the change.

You can be detained at the airport via security, placed on a no fly list and denied boarding in some circumstances.

The issue is, I booked the using my British Airways miles through a British Airways agent, but the flights are actually on a different airline, Aer Lingus - both have continued to say it's simply not possible to change the tickets.

I eventually got through to someone very helpful who basically said she would be annotating the system and making it known about the name discrepency, she even took all our advanced passanger information and updated it, and said bring the marriage licence, but it probably wont be even needed.

I hope you get something in writing regarding the change. I am hearing impaired and was flying to Europe on a European airline, so I called the airline about a month in advance to ask if they can note it on my ticket in their system. First the rep was giving me a hard time and asking me why, but finally said it was done. When I went to check-in the gate agent said there was no record of my disability in their computer.
