Spouse and I have different health insurance - To avoid Premium Surcharge

Hi,

Need your help folks, I am on a 2 Year conditional GC with renewal to be done later this year. I have been working and had my wife (the US Citizen petitioner) on my insurance. Sometime back, my employer said, anyone who has a spouse added on the insurance AND whose spouse is already employed and denying insurance from their employer would need to pay a 1000 dollar surcharge.

Therefore, i removed my spouse from my insurance and she got it back onto her employer's plan. However she is still listed as the beneficiary on my health Insurance and 401k (just in case something happens to me).

We had the same insurance for 1 year and now are on seperate insurance. Would this impact the Removal of Conditions on my GC.

We still have a joint bank account and have a joint lease agreement. The Electricity bill is on my name and Cable/Internet is on hers.

I also have a number of bills that I paid for her health related visits that list me as the primary policy holder (when we had joint insurance)

I also have copies of our boarding passes for our vacations, pictures etc.

Also, We both did file taxes but seperately for the year 2014. However we both did list each other as the spouse on our returns

For 2013, I did not file taxes as I did not have SSN for the year 2013. Even though I became GC on Dec 21, I did not get my SSN until 2014 Jan.

Need your advise please

If you're looking for very strong ROC evidence, then create wills, medical powers of attorney, and similar documents. These are even more valuable to have in "life."
