N-400 April 2015 Filers

I had my interview today in the Chicago office. I arrived 20 minutes before my scheduled time, registered with the receptionist and was advised to wait for my number. 20 minutes after my appointment time I was called in by the IO. I was sworn in and we proceeded with the Civics questions. After I successfully answered 6 questions, IO proceeded with the reading/writing part.

The next stage was reviewing the N400 form and answering questions related to it. My case was relatively simple/straight forward (no wife/kids/arrests) so the process was very fast. At the end I received a letter stating that I was recommended for approval. IO said I will receive the Oath letter in the next 4-6 weeks and congratulated me.

I was very positively surprised today. The IO was very nice/sincere, but at the same time very professional.

Oath ceremony done, therefore, I am a new US citizen :joy: . Thank you to everyone who answered my questions, especially KASH for updating my timeline (good luck on your naturalization journey). Congrats to those who have also taken the oath and best wishes to those still waiting.

Just called USCIS as I was getting anxious about my Oath Ceremony Date given I need to plan some travel. Spoke to Tier 2 Officer (very helpful) who was able to confirmed it's scheduled for 09.10.

Helpful to know the date once it's been scheduled without having to wait for the notice to arrive

@trichards you mentioned you took the interview.... What does that mean.... You guys applied under 3 year rule or 5 year.... Why they called you both for interview....

I had an employment based green card, so was eligible for citizenship after 5 years. My husband had a green card because of me, so we both applied to become citizens.

Anyways, just to add, i think minya's wife also went to an interview yesterday, 8/20. I read it somewhere.

My interview was scheduled 12.40. I got there about 11.30am ish and there were already people waiting, i don't know if it's all for the interview, there's a different set of people in the same place.

I gave my letter in the window tidy when i walked in and they took it and said to wait by the back to get called.

I was called about 12.50ish, i was interviewed by a Chinese lady, she is very professional. We went to get office and asked me for my DL, PASSPORTS (i have 2,one with the visa which already expired and my current passport) and GC.

She swore in, made copies of my passport, and asked me the civics questions.

1.what's an amendment

2.capital of Texas

3.who vetoes bills

I forgot if she asked me more but this is all i remember, then the reading past was "where is the white house? "

Writing was "the white house is in Washington dc"

After that, we went over the n400 and she gave me a paper saying congratulations you are recommended for approval.

The interview is approximately 20 minutes.

She said the notice for the oath should be mailed in 2 weeks. I'm so excited.

congrats:) I've seen some where that Houston office conducts oath ceremony last Wednesday of every month (except Nov and Dec due to holidays) so you should be getting that soon.

did your online status change

Absolutely - my online status changed from' Oath will be scheduled...' which it had been showing since 08..03 to 'Oath ceremony notice was mailed' yesterday.

You're very welcome. It just seem weird that you're still in line for interview. I'm pretty sure Minya's wife is also scheduled to be interviewed 8/20.
