Travel before filing removal of conditions

My conditional green card expires on 9/18/2015. I really want to travel back to the philippines to see my parents. This is really the only time I will have to do it for a while. I know on passports they say to have 6 months left on it before you travel. Does the same apply for greencards? If I traveled this summer and came back to the USA in August. Then immediately file my removal of conditions.

Do you foresee any problems?

Will I have any problems getting back into the USA if my conditional green card expires 1 month or less of my reentry?

Will filing my removal of conditions 1 month before expiration raise any red flags and cause me any problems?

You should be filing your ROC at the 90 day mark before your card expires. That is the recommended timeline here so you can take it or leave it but that is the general advice. Get on it as soon as your window opens up. If you take care of that, then you will have a your NOA that extends your expiry date of your green card to a year later (from the date of the letter) so that will give you some more peace of mind when traveling so that you have that buffer of time. The notice seems to arrive within a couple weeks for almost everyone. Mine was just a few days. The only other piece to keep in mind is that you'll have a biometrics appointment assigned to you and you don't want to miss that. The date of that will depend on where you live as you'll go to a local office to complete that. You can't miss that appointment. But if your card expires in September then you can start the filing process some time in June. It will take many months if not a year possibly (the dates are varying a lot) to get through he ROC process. You can travel when you have your extension letter in hand.

That does not really answer any of my questions. I know that most say it is best to file at the 90 day mark. As I said in my original post. This is really one of the last opportunities I have to see my family and be able to travel in a long time. I am not asking what the best or ideal things are to do. I am asking if I leave the country this summer will I have any problems with reentry or filing only 30 days before expiration verse 90. Telling me what the best thing is to do does not help me.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
