Ok, I am leaving tomorrow morning to go be with Luz at her interview. YES! I bought myself an iPod to replace my aging cd Mp3 player. I also put several movies on it to pass the time. Problem is when I watch movies the batteries will be flat before I get there. Does anyone know if the flight attendance will plug my iPod in so it will charge? The toilets have outlets but I can't wait in there for an hour while it charges.

Check on the seat armrests; there's often an outlet for plugging in laptops, and you could use that to charge your iPod.

I managed to get 12 hours out of my iPod (30gb), but that is just playing music AND by having the backlight off all the time.

The longest hop is 18 hours. I want to watch a movie or two but that will require at least 1 charge.

ETA.. Do they have anything like an external battery for the iPod? Something that would hold regular batteries?

Yeah, I've never watched a whole movie on mine, so I have no idea how long the battery would last with that.

I've seen people some kind of battery pack on eBay before that supposedly means you can get a lot more life out of it... but I have no idea how good they are, or if you can buy such things in the shops. Obviously eBay is no good to you as you're leaving tomorrow!

(Going to have a search & see if I can find what I'm talking about... I'm sure I've seen something like that though).

Edited... have a look on Amazon and search for 'iPod battery' - there's a few things that look like they might do the trick... again, no idea if you can just go out and buy them in the shops though!

Check Radio Shack . . . they have lots of that kind of stuff (and I noticed things for iPod last time I was over there)so maybe you can find a solution there. Be prepared to pay some bucks for it . . .all this new technology isn't cheap. I am sort of bummed about all the new gadgets with the chargeable internal batteries . . . all the more "ancient" players used regular batteries which could be replaced on a long flight.

I don't know if bestbuy or office depot still have them in stock but about 7 months ago a bought a cellboost for my ipod. Cellboost is a non-rechargeable battery that powers and or charges batteryn operated products. The cell phone ones are easy to find, they even have a laptop rechargable cellboost. So try and google cellboost for ipod and see what you come up with.

I know this is last minute but hopes it helps.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

There's something available that I just saw last week - it's like a portable charger, when your iPod runs out, you plug it into this thing and it charges up your iPod again. It can be used for mobile phones too. I can't remember what it's called, I'll take a look online to see if I can find it.

Well, couldn't find that, but found something called iTurbo that will charge your iPod using a battery.

Well, after calling and searching the web sites for Best Buy, Circuit City, Kmart, Wal-Mart and Target I still had no luck. I went to Sears' web site and they had it but one but was listed out of stock. In desperation I started calling the Sears stores in the area and there was one 30 miles away that not only had a battery back-up but had 2 different kinds!! Woot! I got a Maxell Back-up battery pack. It runs on AA batteries and gives 15-20 hours on a set of 4. Thank God thats over! Now I am totally ready to go!! 14 hours from now I get on an airplane to see Luz and to get her visa!!

Thanks for all your suggestions!
