I have a valid tourist visa to Canada that expires when my current passport expires in 2018. I am currently in Pakistan but will be immigrating to USA soon. I have renewed my passport once in USA and it is very costly because you have to fly to Pakistan Embassy in NYC and apply there. I would like to renew my passport in Pakistan before I immigrate to USA mainly becuase it costs way less as compared to what it costs in USA. I am wondering if I am allowed to renew my passport well before my current once expires, what happens with the visas that are stamped in my current passport that would still be valid after I get the renewed passport. Would they still be valid if they have not expired by that time? I would really like to be able to use the tourist visa to Canada if needed as it cost me $250 to get.

Hope I have explained my situation well above. Looking forward to your experiences.

Thanks

usually, a green card holder or a possessor of an I-551 stamp can transit into Canada without any tourist visa foil inside the passport.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
