How long does ssn arrives? We arrived at US port of entry as immigrant last feb 21. Until now our ssn did not still arrived. Do we still need to fill out some forms or it is automatically processed by us upon arrivalin the port of entry?

I know most of us tick the box on the DS-260 and ask for our SSN to be generated. The officer at POE is supposed to do something on the computer screen to send a message to SSI to generate the number. At this point, this happens correctly only 50% of the time. If you have not gotten your SSN card two weeks after your POE, go to your local Social Security office and find out if it is in process. If not, then you can apply for your card right then and there.

You will not be able to get any information about this if you try to call the SS Administration. You must go to a physical office.

My spouse went to the local office, and found that no SSN had been generated. She applied and received her card in the mail only 4 days later.
