Mailing address different than physical address on I-131

We are almost done with our AOS package. There is just one thing that I am worried about. Our physical address is the apartment that my husband and I live in. But since we always have problems with our mail (it gets lost, mailman puts the mail in the wrong mailbox and the neighbors throw the mail away or send it back), we do not want any kind of mail sent to this address. This is why we are always using my mother in law's address as mailing address (no PO box).

So far so good. For all forms we used the mailing address, but the I-131 only states the "physical address". What should we put there? If we really put the physical address in the box my combo card is going to be send to that address and we do not want that. Can I attach a sheet that explains the situation and tell them to send it to the mailing address instead? And if so, will they really comply with that?

The only time we used our physical address was for the G-325A form. For everything else we put the mailing address.

AOS Timeline:

03/04/2015 - Package sent

03/09/2015 - Package delivered

03/13/2015 - E-Mail and text notifications

03/21/2015 - NOA1 for all forms in mail

1. Can I attach a sheet that explains the situation and tell them to send it to the mailing address instead?

2. And if so, will they really comply with that?

1. Sure.

2. Make sure that they see it. In the space for physical address, put "SEE IMPORTANT ATTACHMENT!" and label the attachment page "IMPORTANT ATTACHMENT." Then, hope.

The receipt notices for the I-485, I-765 and I-131 will most likely go to the same mailing address. The EAD/AP card is usually based off the I-765 status and therefore should go to the mailing address used on the I-765. But yes, as TBone said, you can add an attachment anyway to explain you need them to use your mailing address only for correspondence.
